Professional Background

I have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado and a Master’s degree in K-12 Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix. My counseling career began in the school system as a School Counselor, moved into the healthcare system as a Mental Health Counselor at The Children’s Hospital and finally rested as a Private Practice Counselor with Pikes Peak Counseling. I am a Certified Systemic Play Therapist and can work with children as young as three years old using techniques such as art, music, imaginative play and narrative therapies in addition to talk therapy. My Post-Master’s certifications include a Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Certificate in Play Therapy.
I am a member of the Association for Play Therapy (APT) as well as a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) on both the local and national levels. I am an active member of the Parker Chamber of Commerce. I am the Vice President of the Colorado Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT) and the Committee Co-Chair for the Substance Abuse Team for Douglas County Youth Initiative. I am also actively involved in several other local organizations and committees in Colorado.
Techniques and Theoretical Orientations
I use a variety of different counseling techniques tailored to my clients’ needs including: Client-Centered, Family Systems, Humanistic, Structural, Reality, Expressive, Play and Integrative Theories. In addition to individual and family therapy, I also conduct various counseling groups for children and adolescents such as divorce groups, grief and loss groups and social skills groups.
